There was an eerie silence between William and Lucy the next day. They got up together, had breakfast together, went to work together, and yet not a word was spoken between them. Now that they were working together, Haley drove them both to the office.
William sat in the shotgun seat and he looked blankly out the window. Lucy sat behind Haley. She looked tired and, for the most part, her eyes remained closed. Every once in a while she would open her eyes and catch Haley’s eyes in the rearview mirror. Haley would smile and Lucy would smile back, but it was an empty kind of communication.
The way that the couple had shut each other out made Haley said. It wasn’t long though before they arrived at the Jet.com building and it was a relief for everyone to be out of ……
