When they reached Christina’s room they found her asleep. Byron was beside her, tapping away at his laptop computer.
“It’s good to see you,” William said. “I heard that Christina hasn’t been in the best of spirits, so Lucy and I had been hoping that a visit might bring them back up.” William lifted up the bags of gifts. “And we brought these gifts for her.”
Byron stood up to shake William’s hand and he said, "Mr. George, thank you. You should know, though, that the wedding between Christina and I has been canceled. I am only here, now, out of a sense of duty.”
“Oh, really?” William laughed. “If you are doing this because you think you have a chance with Lucy, you are sorely mistaken. She will never be yours and, now that you’ve broken it off with Christina, you will be destined to be alon……
