When the slap connected with Elizabeth’s face she assumed that it had come from Lucy. It didn’t make sense though, because she could see both of Lucy’s hands. Confused, she let go of Lucy’s hair, stood up straight, and tried to get a handle on the situation. She desperately took inventory of the room and was startled to find Byron standing in the doorway.
“f*****g déjà vu,” she muttered. The slap had been him and he did not look happy to have had to administer it. She swallowed hard and she asked him how long he’d been there, listening.
