One thing that Vivian did not know is that William had bugged her purse. There had been a lot of things about her that made him suspicious of her, so he wanted to be able to pull up any conversations that she’d had recently. Lucy was with him when he played Vivian’s conversation with Jenny, and she couldn’t help but laugh.
“Jenny is a real dumb ass,” she commented. “She hasn’t even realized that she is being used by Vivian!”
She turned and smiled at William but, now that the recording had ended, it seemed that he’d mistaken her smile for an invitation. He nearly pounced on her as he pushed her back on the couch and spread her legs with his knees. He was just about to begin undoing her shirt when, after a long pause, the recording picked up again.
