I exhaled, my eyes wandering to the upper windows. Above them, smoke from the fires spiraled into the night sky, blurring the stars. “Arabella’s fingerprints are all over this. She’s in the long game, pulling strings until the council unravels itself. And they don’t even realize it.
”His boots echoed on the stone as he strode towards me. “Then we make them see. Or we sever her ties before she binds the noose around your neck.”.....
