“No. I do.” Wren forced herself to meet my eyes and her jaw worked. “You think I don’t know what it’s like to want someone back so much it hollows you out? To long for a ghost?”
Her breath shuddered. The anger in her eyes dimmed, but only to reveal a pain that cut just as deep.
“But I didn’t—” I faltered, the words tangling. I couldn’t finish. I didn’t have the chance to save him. I didn’t get to choose......
