He did—every detail. Of a sister who made it, a flood that carried it away, and a neighbor who found it stuck in a hedge.
The room grew still.
And someone whispered, "That’s a whole book."
By week’s end, the villages began preparing in advance.
Cakes were left wrapped in cloth. Poems painted on shutters. One hamlet laid a path of wildflowers.
A girl gave Ember a tiny sculpture of a wing. "So you never forget where you’ve flown."
And Ember rolled on.-----
