The door swung open and Marcelline stepped in, dripping like she’d walked through a river. Steam curled off her cloak near the fire. “East gate’s a wreck. Watchtower’s mostly rubble. Two staircases—one’s gone. Only one way up, one way down. If it goes bad, we’re boxed in.”.....
