Michael watched the Griffin and Maya strutting out of the gate and into position, arrogant in the confidence they had every justification for wielding.
Michael was thankful that they looked as ridiculous in the protective suits as he did. He couldn’t even tell what their facial expressions were.
The announcer went on with repeating the rules, an unnecessary necessity. Michael and Lily both weren’t interested in paying attention again.
“Can’t believe we’re facing them already,” Lily’s voice communicated, carried into his left ear as if by the wind. Michael couldn’t but agree. He wanted to talk about how frustrating it was, how anti-climactic and not conducive at all to making the tournament historic and memorable. The battle between them should be the final.
Instead, Michael chuckled and smirke……
