Michael woke up in a hospital bed, thoroughly confused. He opened his eyes and saw nothing but body parts on darkened concrete. Blinking, he got rid of the body parts.
Trying to make sense of the vision, Michael began to remember all that had transpired. In the attempt, he started tearing up. Once he did remember, he wished he hadn’t.
Oh, dear God… Hargrave, Michael thought, his very mind choking.
Michael looked around from his bed and was surprised to see his parents sitting close by. Their presence betrayed the fact that a lot of time had necessarily gone by.
His father seemed to be sleeping soundly in a chair of his own, but his mother was wide awake. She had given him a few seconds to properly wake up, but as soon as he met her eyes, she leaned in.
Her hand brushed against his……
