When the appointed time arrived, Charles left Elena at the castle and went to meet Cate’s friend. He took very few bodyguards with him, leaving most behind to protect Elena. She was upset but could not argue with Charles because he would not listen no matter what.
Elena began to get worried when Charles was gone for a long period of time. She took out her phone debating on if she should call him or not, when a bodyguard rushed in and yelled, “Miss Hayes, it’s not good!”
She suddenly dropped her phone and quickly asked, “What’s wrong?”
“It was a trap!” the bodyguard said anxiously, “The president was ambushed on the road!”
"What?" Elena asked in a panic. "What about Charles? How is he?"
