CHAPTER 101

ARIAH’S POV

I had no idea when I had fallen asleep, but I was awakened by the sound of the front door opening. I sat up on the couch I had been lying on, the wispy dress I had on was rumpled now and my hair was a disheveled mess. I sighed and tried my best to slip my hair down, tucking the few strands that fell over my eyes behind my ears.

I heard approaching footsteps, steady and calculated with hard soles stepping on the tiled hallway. It had to be Declan, no one else walked with such confidence around here. When I stopped hearing those footsteps, I knew he was close. He had stepped into the area covered with thick Persian carpets that snuffed out the sounds of his footsteps. I dearly wish I had a mirror, at least to know what I looked like. All I could do was hope that my nap h……
