Q waited for a moment, digesting what she said. He pulled out his cell phone, but it didn't have a signal.
He had to rely on himself and he hadn't trusted himself in years.
He'd already slept with the client. Multiple times. He had no doubt it would happen again. He pinched the bridge of his nose to stave off the murmurings of a headache.
Could he really complete this case? But who would take care of Madison if he left?
He shook his head, and straightened his shoulders. He had no choice.
“Madison."
She'd reached the house but wasn't out of sight. She stopped at his voice. Her body pivoted to look at him.
“What do we need to do? The sooner we get this figurine back the sooner we can go home. Go back to our lives."
She nodded but not as if she really wanted to go back. What was in this for her? “To ……
