Alexander cleared his throat.
“It’s not too much, right Doctor? It was just a kiss. One kiss for him to realize that I had enough of his unwanted attention.”
“Did you—” He adjusted his collar. “—felt something? Usually when it’s their first kiss, one would feel nervous.”
“First kiss,” she repeated. “To be honest, I felt nothing.”
“He has been wooing you from the very start. From those moments with him, you never felt something? You did not desire the man?”
Amelia was silent but then eventually answered him with a shake of her head. “He’s a nuisance.”
“Then do you detest him, Miss?”
“As a person, no. But his arrogance, his carelessness, and playfulness are what I can’t stand.” She raised her handiwork, inspecting the pattern she has made.
