All night long, the frigid wind howled outside the resort, peppering the glass window with hailstones. Those who had gotten used to living in such conditions paid no heed to the whims of nature, but Mortimer kept turning in his bed, unable to catch even a wink of sleep. It wasn't just the unruly weather which kept him awake, but also his wayward thoughts which kept going back to Alice. No matter how hard he tried, he couldn't get her out of his head.
Towards the break of dawn, he even thought he heard her voice. She was calling out to him from outside the window, begging him to let her in. Mortimer was about to throw open the window when his Reaper Instinct kicked in. This wasn't any ordinary hallucination, someone or something was deliberately trying to get inside his head.
