Samyaza's powers were almost on par with the powers of the strongest Seraphim. There was no way for David and his partners to take down an angel of his level. Not only did he have access to telekinetic spells but also the power to command the lightning from the heavens at will. The power of God was still on his side and this made him a formidable opponent.
Vanessa fortified the magical barrier around them in hopes of withstanding the angel's attacks, but she had no idea how they were going to get the book back from him. None of her spells were powerful enough to harm him.
