David and his friends waited at a nearby pretzel stand, avoiding the gaze of the cops. The pretzel seller wasn’t in the habit of turning down any potential customers but Mortimer and David didn’t seem to fit in with his regular crowd. Armed with swords and crossbows, they made him feel uneasy. Vanessa saw him staring at their weapons and understood the man was starting to feel suspicious.
“Who are you fellas? You don’t seem like tourists.” The man eyed them with hostility and threatened to call the cops.
“Oh, we are here for the comic convention,” Vanessa promptly replied. “It’s all part of our cosplay.”
“The what now?” he leaned closer, even more confused by her explanation.
