The train slowly wended its way through the mountains, with some spectacular views down into valleys. It gradually traveled downhill, and soon it was totally dark. Wolf could no longer judge their progress.
Due to the late hour, all the girls were sent forward to the front passenger car with the Wolverine and Lady Jane. The Wolverine had her sword with her as a deterrent to any late night socialization between the boys and girls.
One of the squires produced a deck of cards and a game of poker started. Wolf had his eye on the game, but after watching for a few minutes realized the cards were worn and no one cared about the money. He declined to join in, but he did get to see that the squires were mostly very good at the game.
After the card games were over everybody laid back in their seats to……
