Malick came at last. Kateesha felt him before she saw him, an ocean wave rolling toward the room. He came in like a silent crash, waves smashing into the rocks. He'd clipped his long white beard so that it hugged his chin, and trimmed his hair so that is barely brushed his shoulders. He enjoyed cutting it to different lengths each day, only to see it regrow the next night. "The beauty of change, without such commitment."

Like the others, he wore a long robe, his colored like fire, though it was open over more modern clothing; a shirt, vest, and trousers. A pocket watch chain caught the light, winking from his breast pocket.

"You are all here." Malick smiled as he took his seat at the head of the table, then motioned to the chairs at the end. "Come, children. Sit. We have matters of import to……
