Kateesha passed the turn for the Cotterill's plantation. There, playing house, lived Jorick's fledgling, Oren. Though he and his cold wife, Jesslynn, tried to hide the children, Kateesha knew what they were, what sin the Cotterills had committed. To make children immortal was an abomination, a breach of law so great that it commanded death to the perpetrator, though Kateesha had no intention of killing them, or their vampiric children. Not just because it might anger Jorick, but, in truth, she was more interested to let it play out; to let Jesslynn have her immortal dolls a child of five and a baby, too young yet to speak, trapped forever in perfect childhood.
