"Stella, you should not be here," I said, my voice laced with urgency. My heart pounded in my chest, each beat a reminder of the danger lurking beneath the surface.
She didn't falter, though. Stella's determination shone in her eyes as she took another step closer. "You say that as if I'm here for a casual picnic in the woods," she replied softly, her voice filled with understanding. "I came here to go after you."
