When Aurora asked Gracelyn to carve her jade for her, she did not do so blindly. He had been carving for six years and she had seen his work. The reason he didn’t want to do it had nothing to do with still. Rather, it had everything to do with confidence.
Gracelyn looked at Aurora and said, “I don’t feel like I have the experience to cut such an expensive piece of jade…”
Aurora interrupted him before he could dig his hole any deeper. “Gracelyn,” she said, “I have reasons of my own for wanting you to carve my jade. In my opinion, you are the best there is. You have been carving for six years. I have seen your work and I recognize your skill. Take this work as a challenge to yourself. If you f**k it up, we will pretend like it never happened but, if you succeed, think of how it will affect……
