It’s said that when meeting someone for the first time, one would feel whether the person was good or bad.

I didn’t believe that crap. I’ve met tons of people who I thought were good but turned out to be downright nasty. I’ve met foster parents who were all smiles on the first day, then they’d be total nightmares on the second. Maria had told me that looks can be deceiving, and boy was I proved right all the time.

However standing before Lucius Black, his hand in mine, I felt a connection. I could not explain the feeling, but I knew it was good. It was as though I knew the man my whole life that I felt I could pour out and entrust all my secrets to him. His pleasant smile and his sparkling eyes brought warmth to the otherwise gloomy Council room of the Los Angeles Sanctum.
