The hybrid is part-mage, the mage’s words rang in my head. I sat down as my knees felt like giving in. I closed my eyes and tried my best to process what I’ve just heard. Calm down, Kay. Calm, down.
I opened my eyes again as something seemed to click inside my mind. I could not explain it. It was like I found a missing puzzle piece and tried to jam it in place with my eyes closed. I knew it was a piece I needed, but I did not know where to put it. I placed my hand over my chest as if to check if my heart was still beating. I shifted my gaze from Lucius who was looking at me with a smile to Jason who looked as shocked as I thought I was.
“Or the boy could have been a mage after all,” declared Juan, taking me out of my reverie. “The turning might just have woken up his powers.”
