Charles clenched his lips in a firm line while his finger tapped the impatiently the surface of the table.
“Go on,” he asked in a solemn manner.
“I am not sure about what I ought to say,” said Roy in an apologetic tone that betrayed his hesitation.
“Just start talking.”
“I must confess that Lady never thought of herself as your wife.”
In return, Roy received an icy cold gaze from Charles. If looks could kill, he would be lying dead on the floor.
“Tell me more.”
Roy swallowed nervously before he continued.
“Lady may not be close to us but she treats us better than anybody else. We all respect her very much. That is why we think it’s not fair for her to leave this place for the sake of Miss Spenser.”
“If she does leave one day, will you still regard her as Lady Williams?”
“Of course,” said Roy. “……
