‘I never thought of you more than a friend.’ His words stabbed me like a dagger all through my body, cutting all the last bits of emotional walls I built up hiding my overpowering feelings. Is this how this is going to end? I wanted to have this chat with him. Maybe to know his side of the story. But it was so hard already. I thought I will move on after this. But he was my first love, the first love I will never forget. He is a fantasy that I weaved inside me for years, so much that it is an undeniably important part of me. Maybe for life. But never have I ever prepared myself to hear those words from him. It just made it all too real. I knew he didn’t like me that way, but to hear him say it, made it much more real. Which I never expect to prick me this painfully.
