The words repeatedly rung on her ear, reminding her nonstop as if it was not stuck on her mind already and was serving great torture on her system. It didn’t even help that she had to see the King so soon with Ragar speaking to him gently, caring for him immensely. It’s a sight that triggers thoughts of endless possibilities if circumstances were just different.
“We’ll be back,” the man said while pushing the King’s hair away from his face. “We won’t be long.”
The affectionate gesture is what makes it feel so wrong. It’s daunting that they are to be close but circumstances keep them apart. Ragar stepped away when Esmeralda brought the King’s medicine.
