Kate was blushing again. She was no longer Joseph's wife and had no authority to support Noelle's request. Joseph was the type of man who would tell her to stop talking nonsense; she was used to his strong personality.
"Do you need to stop studying just because you are an adult?" Joseph's tone sounded like he was her father.
"I ... I didn't mean it ..." Noelle's voice immediately got quieter as she spoke to Joseph.
Kate could feel the tension growing between Joseph and Noelle. They were brother and sister, but she had to do something to ease the atmosphere, "Noelle is an adult. You don't need to treat her like a child."
Joseph didn't expect to hear Kate supporting Noelle. He turned his head to look at her; Kate was worried.
