When I saw the demon, the first thing that came to mind aside from running was my mother’s prayer. In her invocation, she used to say that the Divine will bless us, and we will trample on the head of the snake. Looking at the slithering monster making its way toward us in murderous haste, I had my doubts. How would I step on the head of the snake when it was more than the size of a full-grown horse?
I launched into a fit of screaming as the giant snake demon neared us. Magat jumped forward, shoving Amias and Lyana behind him. He had the dull Angel’s sword in his hand. Magat raised the blade, its tip pointing toward the slimy abomination. “Back off, demon!” yelled the war chief.
The giant snake stopped in its tracks a few arms’ lengths before us. Within reach of the light coming from ……
