Avery bit her bottom lip as she scrolled through the increasingly more concerned messages from James.
“Let me know when you get home.”
“Did you get home alright?”
Then a few hours later: “I’m a little worried, I might call.”
Followed by the missed phone call, then a final message which read: “I hope you just fell asleep, but make sure you message me when you see these.”
There were also a few messages from Pascal, but she ignored those for now, as she was preoccupied by figuring out how to respond to James. She’d set her phone on silent before going into Cocoa Remix, not wanting to be distracted by anything - but she really should have messaged James when she got dropped off.
Should she just wait until morning to respond, and pretend she had fallen asleep - like he thought? It was just afte……
