Helina made breakfast the next morning and Chase was his usual self. There was no sign of the harried or unpleasant man he'd been yesterday. He was already dressed when he sat at the table in a gray suit and a red tie. She loved that red tie.
“We're going on a trip later today," he said.
“A trip? Where?"
Anywhere was interesting since she'd never been out of Duncan's Woods until recently. Maybe there was a whole world out there that she could discover. She'd never had any wanderlust. When most of her friends had run off to the city for a year, she'd stayed home, having little interest in the human world.
Now that she was in it, she had more of a sense of curiosity about it.
