The elevator dings and a tall muscular man steps off of it, he’s very handsome, and his pale blue eyes look over the room. “Hi, you must have a meeting with my father, as I told them.. there is plenty of room if you’d like to sit and wait. The only rule is to stay quiet so I can finish my book!” She smiled at him, as he looked over all of his men who are all dead on the floor. He looks back at her, his eyes cold and icy. They trail up her exposed body, and land on her face. “You took out all of my men, by yourself?” He asked coldly, before walking over and sitting in the chair across from her. “Yes, it was easy, they were stupid.. now.. I did specify that I wanted silence..” she said, sending him a glare from over her book.

I was sold to god of the Fae, Arcanum, a heartless creature that drains the life of humans to extend his life and heighten his power. I was sent to the land of the Fae through a portal, and led to the castle of the lesser Fae deities. All Fae are said to be cruel, and mischievous, but the deities waiting at the castle were kind, and welcoming. Their kindness and carefulness with me was almost enough to make me forget that I am only in the Fae kingdom to die. This beautiful world will only be my home until the Winter Solstice in three months.

I can’t believe I’m finally here.. the Alstroemeria Arcane Academy! I’ve worked my entire life to get an invitation to this academy. My parents were both strong mages.. but when they passed.. I was sent to live at the LockHeart Orphanage, I secretly practiced my magic, making sure to accumulate more and more power. I wanted to prove myself.. of course, I had to be careful. Practicing magic around regular humans made things nearly impossible, seeing as how I wasn’t supposed to get caught by non magic users. Luckily, as long as I did my chores, and worked my a** off, I was ignored enough to be able to sneak away at night into the woods behind the orphanage and practice. Now, it was all worth it, I finally made it to the Academy! I finally get to love my dream, and my parents dream for me. I smiled stepping into the massive academy halls for the first time. This school is for the magically adept men and women, 18 years and up. There are other schools for younger children, but growing up in the orphanage, I didn’t get the chance to go to any of them. None of it matters now though, all of the pain, the suffering, the heartbreak, and loss, it all lead me to where I am now, they all lead me here.

This isn’t exactly what I was expecting, though I don’t really know what I had in mind. When they told me that my Ex had escaped prison, and they were placing me into the Witness Protection Program, I assumed that they’d move me to a bunker in the middle of Alaska. Instead, they’ve placed me in the hometown of my deadbeat dad. When I told them about my father’s ranch, they said it’d be the safest place for me. Rural, and tucked away within the mountains. I never told Parker about my father, or his ranch, mostly because I don’t know much about him myself. Only that he left my mother and I when I was just a baby. Now, instead of being able to continue the life that I worked so hard to achieve, I’m being tossed in the middle of nowhere, with people I don’t even know.

I jumped from the taxi, grabbing my luggage and sprinting to my brother. He stepped out from his truck, just in time for me to crash into him. “I missed you! It’s been way too long!” I smiled, hugging around his neck. He chuckled. “I missed you too! I’m so glad you’re here for the summer!” He said, hugging me back. He twirled me around like he used to when we were young, and I had almost forgotten that we hadn’t seen each other for 10 years. When our parents divorced, our mom took me, and moved away to London.. leaving my bother and father behind. I hadn’t seen either of them since, but now, I had finally saved up enough money to get a plane ticket to come back to town. “With any luck I’ll be here longer!” I smiled, pulling away and grabbing my luggage. “Can I toss it in the back?” I asked. He watched me for a moment before chuckling to himself. “Yeah, you can ‘toss it in the back!’” He laughed, putting on a fake British accent. “I can’t help it! I’ve lived in London for so long that my accent has changed.” I laughed along, tossing my luggage in the back of his truck. “I have to say, I did get a few strange looks when I was exiting the airport, every time I spoke people would stare at me as if I’d said something wrong..” I chuckled, walking around, and getting into the truck. “Well, be prepared, I’ve got some of our old friends from school that want to come over tomorrow night for a party, they’re so excited to see you, especially Lyra! She’s been asking when you’re coming for weeks!” He said, jumping into the truck. I nodded. “Well, I will admit.. I’m not a fan of crowds.. but I think it’ll be fun to catch up.” I smiled. “It won’t be too bad, just a few people!” He said, before taking off towards his house. We had been driving for a bit, when suddenly his phone rang. He sighed, picking it up. “What is it?” He asked. “Now? I just.. my sister is back in town for the first time in a while.. it’s why I asked for a while off.. what about the other guy? He’s sick? Seriously? Fine.. just let me take her home first.. what do you mean now! Fine!” He shouted before hanging up. He sighed heavily. “Okay, I’m sorry to do this, but that was work, I have to go to a clients house and fix something.. I have to go now.. and you’ll have to stay in the car..” he sighed, shaking his head. I nodded. “It’s okay, I don’t mind waiting.” I smiled, as we took off towards the clients house.

Her twenty fourth birthday didn’t go quite as expected. She was gathering fruits and vegetables from her garden, when suddenly the earth opened up beneath her. She was swallowed up into the darkness, and spit out into a world far above the world below her. A city sitting upon the clouds in the sky, filled with people dressed in white and gold robes and dresses.. it seemed as though she was no longer on Earth, but instead within the realm of the gods.

Cursed is the Crown

My footsteps echoed in the halls, the laughter and applause from the ballroom fading in the distance. I could hear men congratulating my father, and his business partner Roman. This couldn’t be happening to me.. I knew that I was only raised to be a tool for my father’s business.. but I thought that meant that he’d force me to run the company, no matter how much I despised it, and him. That he wanted me to be well versed, strong, and capable. Instead, he waited until today, on my 28th birthday, to announce that I would be the wife of his business partner. “A perfect match.” He called it, even though Roman is 20 years older than me, a twisted, devilish smirk spread across his lips when my father made the announcement. I knew what it meant, it wasn’t a threat, no matter how afraid it made me feel. Not a threat, but a promise, one that I knew he’d keep. He planned to torment me, as was his pleasure in life. He’d been a cynical bas**** ever since I came of age. 10 years of dealing with his monstrous abuse, and now my father had publicly tied me to him. I shook my head, backing out of the ballroom. I needed to hide, no, I needed to escape! This couldn’t be happening, not after everything I’d endured. I refused this engagement.. I refuse this marriage, I refuse to be a participant in this sick game that they were playing.

Sometimes my job is too easy, I’ve been following him for months now and he hasn’t even noticed once. I had grown accustomed to watching his bright blue eyes glow in the dim lighting of the jazz club that he frequents. His words were always kind, his demeanor gentle, and his voice.. soft, smooth.. deep. I shook away the thoughts that crowded my mind, making it hard for me to think. I couldn’t get invested, or confused, this is my job. I was hired for one thing and one thing only, to ki** Silas LaRoux.
