Happy Halloween season! 🎃 I know what this sounds like, even as I’m typing I’m cringing as I imagine what you’re thinking. I know the backrooms aren’t real. They’re an internet story. A creepypasta. Something people invented to scare each other and poke at curiosities. I thought that too. It started with a door. I’d been shopping when I went looking for the toilets and found myself somewhere I didn’t recognise. At first, I wasn’t frightened. I thought I’d wandered into an area I wasn’t supposed to be in. Just a mistake and a wrong turn. I’ve always been sensitive to things other people can’t see. Spirits. Presences. The dead. It’s been that way for as along as I can remember, and that’s why I wasn’t afraid at first. If I was lost, I wouldn’t be alone. Someone would answer me. But for the first time in my life, there was nothing. No people. No spirits. No sense that anyone had ever existed there at all. Just empty rooms, endless corridors and doors that only seemed to take me further away from home. I did eventually find the dead. I wish I hadn’t. I made it back. At least I think I did. My name is Laura brooks. And this is not a story.

Anyway, I’m feeling pretty good right now, so thought I’d carry on with what happened.
