Five years into Benjamin's prison sentence, he's given a pen pal. He dreads the idea, not seeing the point but gives in with the possibility that it could lessen his time behind bars. What Ben didn't foresee was that he would begin to wait patiently for those letters to come with his name written on the pages, eager to read what secrets would be spilled for his eyes only.
Nick had been tossed to the wolves by a friend of his when he was signed up for the Pen Pal Penitentiary Program. He had no idea what to expect but hoped he'd come out of it alive. He was aware there was no obligation to go past the first letter but he made a promise to try. Nick quickly found himself falling in love with the words he would see scribbled within the envelopes that he knew were just for him.
After a year of writing and six years of waiting, Ben is released from prison and wishes to meet up with Nick in hopes they might connect the same way face to face as they did through their letters. Walking through the doors of a familiar café was one thing but seeing the face of someone long gone was another. With no clue how to navigate what comes next, all Ben knew was that everything was finally falling back into place.
