With Dad holding one of my hands, and Mum holding the other, I gave a nod. ‘I’m ready,’ I said.
‘Okay, then, let’s do this,’ said Dr Randle.
A moment later cool fingers brushed against my face, skin pulling as she tugged at the tape holding the bandage covering my left eye secure.
