Jared Bane is a 20 year old school student; a good-for-nothing, lazy, alcoholic who lives with his single mother who works as a waitress and has never known his father. Leading an aimless and meaningless life, his life gets transformed completely after the death of his mother, when he discovers a bottle of elixir named Hemlock sent to him by an unknown person. The bottle enhances his senses and his brain power is advanced to the next level by which he achieves wonders. However, problems begin when the bottle is used up, and in search of more of the liquid, he passes through an ordeal during which dark secrets from his father's life are revealed.

My head thumped atrociously as my eyelids popped open painfully, providing me with a blurred image of the hospital wing in school. A plaster had been placed on my knee and which also ached horribly, couldn’t really figure out which pain was more excruciating.
