Tamara has always lost everything to her ex-best friend June, from her school grades to the lead role in every school production to her childhood crush, her first love, Lucas.

After June's marriage to Lucas, Tamara has to move away from June and their small town, to move on from an unrequited crush and a destroyed friendship.

She is almost this close in forgetting June, Lucas, their relationship, and her feelings for both of them. She is finally comforted by the knowledge she is far away from June and her manipulations, but how wrong she is!

When Tamara receives a letter from June, begging her to come home and save her, she believes it is another one of June's manipulative tricks to mess with her, until she gets a call. June is Dead!

Going to June's funeral is a mistake, as it becomes more and more complicated than she has bargained for. She realizes her heart still beats harder with just a look from Lucas, and she is still not over him. Or June. And then there is June's baby boy, whose smile makes her heart hurt with love and happiness.
