I carried my baby for nine months. I felt her kick every night. When labor came, my husband was in London for business. I woke up at 5am. I did not sleep. I was sitting on the floor of my one-room apartment, looking at the small window. Outside was still dark. My baby's wrapper was on my lap. I was holding it and smelling it. It still had that small baby smell.
