I had entered the wrong game, chosen its deadliest monster as my date, and broken the one rule with a perfect fatality record. Every player who had touched him was dead within seconds. He should have killed me too. He only stared. Night sealed the castle, and its monsters came hunting. I survived by clinging to the one creature they feared. By the time I understood why Valerius kept letting me touch him, his arms were already around my waist and he had no intention of letting me leave.
