Grandpa, Grandma and Bread
READING AGE 4+
Once upon a time there was a grandfather and grandmother in a village far away. They were both terribly stubborn. Grandpa is a miser. They were hungry for many days. They lived with the idea that eating would increase the cost.
Then one day when the smell of good bread came from the next house, my grandparents' mouth watered. They too longed to eat bread. Grandmother said if you bring some rice and coconut, we can bake good bread and eat it too. Grandpa agreed.
But if you buy rice, it will cost money. Grandpa thought! After much deliberation, Grandpa finally found a way to organize the rice and coconut without spending a penny.
And what did Grandpa do? Grandpa applied gum glue to the end of his blanket and walked to the rice shop. The adhesive blanket was placed on top of the sack where the rice was kept in the shop and then retrieved. Then a few grains stuck to the glue! Grandpa picked them up without anyone noticing. This was repeated several times and Grandpa returned home with some rice!
On the way, he saw a crow flying with a coconut and took a stone and threw it to the crow. The frightened crow abandoned the coconut and flew away! My grandfather took the coconut and went home. He then handed the rice and coconut to his grandmother and told her to bake the bread.
Grandmother washed the rice, ground it, added coconut and baked the bread. Total three loaves when baked! Both of them had water in their mouths. They decided to share the bread.
Grandpa said I need two loaves of bread and Grandma should take one. Will Grandma agree? Grandma said I worked hard to make bread and I have one? I need two, and Grandpa can get one. Grandpa did not agree. He worked hard to get rice and coconuts and said he had to get two loaves. The two were tired of arguing. In the end, the two of them made a decision.
Both may be silent. Whoever speaks first loses, he loses! Two loaves for the winner!
So they started the match. The two began to sit in silence. Tired of sitting, they lay down. They both deal with their confidence as they choose to embark on their play activities.
Then a crow flew by. When the crow looks, he has made three loaves of bread and his grandparents are lying apart. The crow thought nothing more, carved a loaf of bread and flew away. Grandpa and Grandma didn't pay any attention to it. Get a loaf of bread.
When it was a little loose, a cat came through. He also took a cat with him. Grandpa and Grandma didn't know anything and Minty, Minty would not be defeated!
Seeing this, a boy from the next house came in. He was hungry. He took turns calling his grandparents. Both do not speak. He took the leftover bread and went home.
He told an old man on the way that his grandparents were dead! He got there quickly. Grandpa and Grandma called and nodded. He first covered his grandfather's mouth and nose. The suffocated grandfather made a noise. Then my grandmother jumped up and ran to the kitchen saying that I had won and that I had got two loaves of bread. Not even a loaf of bread is left when you look at it greedily! Both of them sighed. They said that if they had compromised, they would have got at least one loafThought.
