"You cheated on me and now you’re offering me emotional crumbs and calling it help?” I stared at my boyfriend in utterly shock.
He rolls his eyes. “Honestly, I could have dumped you already. But I felt bad.”
“Felt bad?”
“Yeah,” he continues. “No one else is going to want you. You’re broke. You’re always stressed. You’re boring. I’m doing you a favor by staying.”
“You’re horrible,” I whisper. “You’re actually a damn horrible person. You know I need that money. I need it for my grandpa’s surgery. That’s why I’m trying to find a good job…so I can at least save up for him. How dare you talk down to me?"
He scoffs. “Please. If your stupid grandfather wasn’t such a burden, maybe you wouldn’t be this desperate.”
Something in me just…snaps.
I don’t even remember crossing the distance.
One second I’m standing there, the next my hands are on him...fisted in his collar, slamming him back into the wall so hard his head knocks against it.
“Take it back,” I say, but it comes out uneven, breathless.
“Get off me,” he chokes, louder this time, trying to push me back.
I push harder.
“Take it back,” I say again. “Just take it back you bastard.”
“You’re insane,” he spits roughly. “What kind of woman does that? Violent, crazy...no wonder your life’s a f*****g mess. Nobody wants you,” he adds, wiping his mouth with the back of his hand. “No one’s ever going to deal with this shit.”
For half a second, I believed him.
Then a voice comes from behind me.
