“What the hell is going on?! What the f**k are you?!”
His voice cracked through the storm, and before she could explain, he shoved her—hard.
Thud.
She hit the ground, breath knocked from her lungs, looking up at the one person she thought would never fear her.
His eyes—eyes that once held warmth—now burned with betrayal.
There was a flicker. A flash of something soft. Hurt.
But it drowned under the weight of horror.
This wasn't how he was supposed to find out.
Not through blood.
Not like this.
“Monster,” he spat, and her heart cracked as her pupils darkened in anguish.
She dropped to her knees, trembling, rain soaking her skin, her pride washed away with it.
“Please,” she whispered, “just listen.”
But he turned.
And walked away.
Thunder growled.
Behind her, the corpses of the werewolves she’d slain to save him lay still, cooling in the mud.
A sharp sting ignited in her left arm. She gasped.
“Ah... It’s poisoned,” she murmured, staring blankly at the wound now spreading black.
A faint, broken smile tugged at her lips as she surrendered to the darkness.
“Let this be the end.”
