The Black Sheath
READING AGE 16+
The Black Sheath is a progression fantasy in a world where Orders train apprentices, ley shards buy coal, and the Godfall Reach opens once a decade. Ren Calder is Kindling, the lowest rung. His master Aldric Vane is dying from wounds dealt by a man Ren cannot touch. The only possible cure is inside the Reach.
Ren enters with a broken sword, an iron shard that has gone silent, and a set of rules he will not break—until someone crosses his line, and then he breaks everything else.
The story follows one lead, a small cast of allies, and a long revenge that keeps asking what a promise costs. There is a one-armed swordsman with a debt of his own, a Wildkin heir who refuses to be commanded, and a village girl holding a seal she should never have touched. It is martial arts and cultivation-adjacent progression in a western secondary world, with factions, trials, and a lead who is not trying to become immortal. He is trying to keep his word.
If you want a serial that treats power as a bill that comes due, this is for you.
