Hazel doesn't hunt anymore. It was a domino effect. One thing after another, rapid succession, and this chain of events nearly killed her. But, somehow, she lived, and she even miraculously retained her position at Albrecht—but she was stripped of her rank as a vampire hunter.
Albrecht serves as the west coast's vampire hunter hub, tucked away beneath the cloudy skies of Pullman, Washington, disguised as a university. Hazel traded her voice for protection, sworn to secrecy about what happened in Colorado.
But several failed investigation attempts of a newly discovered vampire coven prompts a need for action. Hazel was one of Albrecht's finest hunters, and so, she and a newbie hunter are dispatched to California.
Hazel stumbles upon the very person who turned her whole world upside down. Her rage very quickly morphs into an all-consuming obsession, but unfortunately for her, her prey feels the same.

Erin went to bed with a bottled water in one hand, and with an ice pack in the other, pressed to the crook of her arm.
She seemed to have a real interest in medical stuff. With what little I knew about her, I fully expected her to look away while I stitched her up, but she didn’t. She watched intently. She asked questions.
