TITLE: WHY THE LAW BELONGS TO WOMEN
Main Characters:
1. Emeka - A hardworking Okada rider / bricklayer from Port Harcourt
2. Sandra - His wife, beautiful but cunning
3. Barr. Uche - The female lawyer
4. Mama Emeka - Emeka's mother
STORYLINE:
Emeka suffered for 7 years to build a small 2-bedroom house and buy a Keke. He married Sandra when she had nothing.
After 2 children, Sandra met a Yahoo boy in GRA. She started disrespecting Emeka. One night, she slapped Emeka and he pushed her hand away. She fell.
The next morning, police came. Sandra went to the "Ministry of Women Affairs" and reported "My husband wants to kill me. He beats me every day."
Nobody asked Emeka what happened. The law just believed her because she cried.
Emeka was locked up for 3 days. To bail himself, he spent N150,000.
When the case went to court, the female magistrate told Emeka:
"Woman is always the victim. Are you not a man? You should have controlled yourself."
Emeka lost his house. The court said the house must stay for the children and the mother. Sandra brought her new boyfriend into the same house Emeka built.
Emeka went back to his mother's village with nothing.
THE MESSAGE OF THE STORY:
The story will ask the big question:
1. Why does the law listen to a woman's tears but not a man's evidence?
2. Why is a man called "weak" when he reports that his wife beats him, but a woman is called "brave" when she reports?
3. Why does "Child Custody" automatically go to the woman, even if the man is more responsible?
At the end, Emeka will stand up and start an NGO called "Justice For Men Too" to help men who are falsely accused and broken by the system.
