Gideon has so much to gain as the new Alpha of the dreaded Wolfless Pack, but he continues to mourn his losses. His pack is wolfless, godless, and corrupt. It makes and keeps them the wealthiest and the most hated in Oak City. His first battle was a failure, leaving him with a limp and causing the death of his mate. He wonders if it is time to give up a brotherhood he no longer believes in.

Riva is a witch on her second initiation. She choked on her first attempt to kill a target. Determined to solidify her membership, she willingly accepts her next mission – to kill a corrupt politician with spells and a knife if needs be. However, it means passing through a dangerous forest owned by the Wolfless Pack.

Sent to kill, she is attacked instead, taking a deadly bite from the Alpha. The attack is not what it seems, though, and instead of scaring her away, the bite seems to have forged a bond that she is afraid to acknowledge.

The chance encounter fuels a passion that both try to quench as each focuses on their own missions. Even a melancholy wolf and a vengeful witch can find redemption in each other, even if they have to sacrifice their pride and respond to the seductive pull that is equal parts carnal and spiritual.
