“Dad, what is happening ?” I run over, hoping for an acceptable explanation, anything beside what I fear the most. “What are you doing here ?”



 He stops in his tracks, looking at me. There is a tired air about him. “Zay !? You were supposed to stay in your room, weren't there..” .



 “Guards in front of my door, like a prison ? Yes… I crawled out my window”. I look around. “Where is Raya ? And her parents ?”



 “Zay, you have to understand that as the Alpha I have no choice…”. My father straightens his back as he starts.



 I cut him off without thinking about his rank … or mine. “Where is Raya ?”



 “Do not disrespect your Alpha”. Raz growls.



 “It’s okay Raz, I get that my son is worried”. My father says, then he looks at me. “I know you might have a hard time understanding this now, you are still so young… but I have to be harsh with traitors or the pack will lose respect… you were the one who told me you heard her parents talk about mutiny”.



 I bite my lip, trying to hold the pesky tears at bay. A future Alpha does not cry, not here in front of these men. “Yeah… but..”.



“We looked into it, they were actually planning to overthrow me and sell us out to a rival pack”. He slaps my shoulder in a jovial way, making me take a step forward. “So thank you son … you did me and the pack a great service”.



 “But Raya… she has nothing to do with it”. I shake my head. “Where are they ? What will happen ?”



 The beta shakes his head. “Gone, exiled… stay out of the kid or you risk people will think you are a traitor too, like your little girlfriend”.



 I am almost yelling now “She is not…”.



 “Zay !” My father uses his Alpha voice. “I am sorry, but we have witnesses, hearing her say that she was looking forward to me not being the Alpha anymore… she couldn’t defend herself … I know you liked her..”.



 “No, I love her… she is my mate”. I am desperate and I feel nauseous, fate can not take her from me again.


Raya and Zayden have known each other since they were kids, they are each other's best friends through childhood and the awkward teenage phase. And as they start falling in love they are sure they are each other's mates.

Zayden is the future Alpha and Raya is the daughter of … traitors. It comes as a shock when she realises. Along with her parents she is stripped of her wolf and rejected from the pack.

Her father, gone even more mad from the loss of first his wolf and then his wife, trains Raya as an assassin, sending her back to take revenge on their old pack, whom he felt wronged them.
