Maximus's Point of View

I had to tell Melinda the whole truth, it was the only way. It was my last chance to have Melinda forgiving me, even though I was undeserving of such forgiveness
I still wondered in dread, would she be able to look past it and be with me? Or the old and deeply buried secrets would only set us further apart?

Excerpt:

“You should tell her everything, Maximus. It’s the only way for you to earn her forgiveness,” Elric’s words carried the calmness of desperation. He was a master in concealing his anxiety and his agony.
“Have you told Liv everything?” I questioned him, my voice a bit louder than normal.
He looked at me a tad startled for a second before lowering down his glance and sighing in guilt and frustration.
“No, I haven’t. But I will. Liv also has the right to know the truth. It’s a heavy burden to keep secrets from the love of my life. I’ll tell her everything soon, she is too stressed now with the three babies and still recovering from her very exhausting pregnancy. Helena’s powers took a great toll on my mate, but as soon as she is feeling better, I’ll tell her the whole story. I also can help you to talk to Mel, tell her that it was my idea to start with.”
I exhaled sharply. I was being defensive and Elric only wanted to help, he was a great friend.
Moreover, he was right. I could only have a chance with her if I tell her the whole truth. Although it could also make everything even worse.
“Thank you, Elric. I would appreciate that.”
Having Elric talking to Melinda could work well, he is much calmer and articulate than me, it would surely soothe her.
“It will work, she will forgive you. Mel is a very kind female, and she loves you. Especially with what is at stake now.”
“She is. I’m just afraid I’ve hurt her too much, broke her and our relationship to such a point that there is no going back,” I replied with a sharp exhale.
“Maximus, there is never going back. But it might be going further for both of you, a new beginning,” Elric uttered with a tight smile.

Little did we know that the past would come back in an unexpected way, reopen wounds, and make bonds, and love stories be questioned, be risked. A past of regret, desperation and guilt was bound to repeat itself causing a great havoc in all our lives.
