“Bloody” Rexx Thorne is a warrior without a home or a purpose. The Sapphire Empire has been freed from the bloody reign of the Devil Empress, to whom he was blood-sworn to protect with his life the captain of her guard, the Sapphire Knights. He is also the bearer of the Empire’s Elemental Ring, an artifact from the Age of Immortals when the gods walked the world of Pyre. There are three in total, each treasured by the three superpowers of Pyre. These rings give their bearers power over the elements that no normal magic can match. It also makes them nearly immortal, with complete dismemberment being the only way to truly kill them and letting the rings pick new bearers. They are faster and stronger than any normal and many supernatural beings or beasts. This was the force protecting the Devil Empress and her family during her tyrannical fifteen-year rule. In the end, she and all of her family were put to the sword by her people, and Rexx was not there to stop it. He was not there because he was poisoned by the woman he loved, the Devil Empress’s oldest daughter, Eshoni TyVon, who had secretly been a leader of the revolution that saw her entire family killed. The poison was powerful, but it only left Rexx in a coma. Instead of killing him, Eshoni made sure that he was taken far away from the capital of Sapphire City so that even when he awoke he would not be near enough to do anything as they completed their bloody work. Those who carried him off also kept poisoning him along the way. By the time they got him far enough away and dumped him in an inn to recover on his own, a month had passed, and the blood of his charges had been spilled. The Imperial Throne was abolished and replaced by an Imperial Senate, with Senators being freely elected. Heartbroken and dishonored, instead of unleashing his wrath, Rexx simply disappeared, taking the Elemental Ring with him. But, when the Empire and the woman who betrayed him need him, will he come to their aid, or will he take his revenge?N
