Natalya’s sudden grasp on Harry’s arm was painful. She’d hit a nerve junction of some sort.

“Hey! Ow!” He tried to shake her off which only hurt more. In moments she’d dragged him out of the E.R. and into the parking lot. Salem was twenty degrees warmer than Eagle Cove and the sun felt bright and hard unlike the way it shone softly on the coast.

She pushed him up against the side of Becky’s van before releasing him. She did it hard enough that he bunged his elbow right on the funny bone.

“Cut it out, Natalya!”

She poked a finger into the center of his chest, “Can I trust you?”

“What are you talking about?”

Natalya growled. It was a dangerous sound that didn’t make him think of dog or cat; it was pure pissed-off woman.
